Like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, these Pentecostals view the historic orthodox Protestant church as an agent of the devil, quite literally, for its belief in the doctrine of the Trinity. In the past decade or two their numbers have increased significantly and are therefore of genuine concern to the church. Robert M. Bowman, Jr., observes in his critique of the movement:

An astonishing number of professing Christians today reject the doctrin of the Trinity…. Oneness Pentecostalism began in 1923 and has grown quickly since then to over four million worldwide, making it the second largest anti-trinitarian movement [behind Mormonism]. 54
